Privacy notice

No cookies, no accounts, no ads. Visits are measured with cookieless analytics stored by PostHog in the US, and you can switch that off for your browser at the bottom of this page.

Who runs this site

I do: George Bracher, an individual, the data controller for georgebracher.com. Email hello@georgebracher.com.

What gets recorded

Analytics (PostHog). When you read a page, PostHog records which pages you view, what you click, the page or site that sent you here, your approximate location (country and city, worked out from your IP address), your IP address itself (stored with each event, which lets me leave my own visits out of the numbers), your device and browser type, and how fast the page loaded. It also records:

That's so I can see when a page isn't working for people. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device for analytics. There are no accounts or forms, and no screen recordings are made.

Visit counts (Cloudflare Web Analytics). Cloudflare counts page views with a small script that reports which page loaded, the page that sent you here, your browser and device type, your country, and how fast the page loaded. It uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device.

Hosting and security (Cloudflare). Cloudflare delivers the site and blocks attacks. To do that it processes your IP address and basic request details.

Email. Mail to hello@georgebracher.com is forwarded to my inbox by Cloudflare Email Routing.

None of this is used to identify you personally, build an advertising profile or sell data. The site carries no advertising.

Why, and on what basis

To learn which pages are useful and to keep the site running and safe. The legal basis is legitimate interests under the UK GDPR. You can object at any time, and you can switch analytics off yourself below.

Who processes it, and where

Both act on this site's behalf under data processing agreements that include safeguards for transfers outside the UK.

How long it's kept

PostHog keeps analytics events for one year; Cloudflare keeps request logs for its own limited periods. To have data about you removed sooner, email hello@georgebracher.com.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to its use, or move it. Email hello@georgebracher.com and you'll get an answer within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Turn analytics off

This saves a small "no analytics" setting in your browser so the choice sticks. Clearing your browser data removes it.
